SYMPOSIA
We're excited to announce two extraordinary symposia at this year's NOLA Funk Fest, each dedicated to telling the rich and soulful story of Louisiana Blues. Held at the historic New Orleans Jazz Museum during the fest, these exclusive events will bring together legendary musicians, Grammy winners, and cultural scholars to explore the roots, evolution, and ongoing legacy of Louisiana Blues.
Legendary bass guitar savant George Porter Jr. (The Meters, Runnin' Pardners and more) will lead the all-star house band for both sessions. John Fohl (guitar), Michael Lemmler (keyboards), and Herlin Riley (drums), and Eric Bernhardt (Sax - Sunday only) round out this powerhouse quartet. David Kunian, New Orleans Jazz Museum curator and co-curator of this year's 'Shake Your Hips' exhibit at NOLA Funk Fest, will serve as moderator. Sonny Schneidau, an integral part of the New Orleans live music scene for decades and Tipitina’s co-founder, will produce both events.
