About NOLA Funk Fest

NOLA Funk Fest is the coming out party for The Louisiana Music & Heritage Experience, a museum of grand scale dedicated to the preservation of Louisiana’s rich musical history. This festival features programming giving attendees a taste of what the museum will offer. The 2023 festival featured an exhibit titled I Found My Thrill: The Music and Artistry of Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew, which continues its run at the New Orleans Jazz Museum through September before embarking on a state-wide tour. At NOLA Funk Fest 2024, a new exhibit on Louisiana Blues will make its debut at the New Orleans Jazz Museum.

Festival programming also includes two symposiums where oral histories, flavored by musical performances, will highlight the evolution of Blues and Jazz into R&B, Rock and Roll, and Funk. In 2023, our symposiums focused on Earl King and Dave Bartholomew. Stay tuned for details about our 2024 symposiums, which can only be accessed through our Super VIP ticket package.

To top off the programming, the city and nation's best funk acts peform for three days across two stages. NOLA Funk Fest 2023 was headlined by Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Leo Nocentelli with Experiencing The Meters and including Grammy icons Irma Thomas, George Porter Jr. and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. The 2024 lineup will be announced at a special Lineup Reveal Show at Tipitina's March 23rd.

Our goal for this festival is to draw attention and help make our dream of giving Louisiana the museum it deserves a reality. Our goal for the museum is to preserve the evolving Louisiana music history to educate, inspire and empower.
