PASSING THE TORCH
NOLA Funk Fest’s ‘Passing The Torch Stage’ is a Loyola University New Orleans and New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA) sponsored stage that provides a platform for young local musicians to perform – highlighting the importance of music education.
Located adjacent to the festival’s entrance on Barracks Street and The French Market, this stage is free to the public. Students from New Orleans' preeminent music high school, NOCCA, and Billboard Magazine's top ranked Loyola College of Music & Media will showcase a vibrant assortment of music talent. Beyond the fantastic performances along with special guests from the community, attendees can also enjoy glitter, face painting, a variety of food trucks, and beverages making this feel like a French Market street party, all adjacent to the Funk Fest.
At NOLA Funk Fest 2024, Loyola student artists Uncle Jessica, flow mvnny, Ja Fearce, Azure Skyz, Tuller, Dizzy, Montey, Aaniyah Anderson, Kai De Lua, Royale, Surco, Kissing Disease, Tired Eyes, Hypno Nun, and Bread for Sale will perform sets of music spanning genres from funk to jazz to hip-hop and R&B. Sharing the stage throughout the weekend will be NOCCA’s finest musical acts. The weekend will culminate Sunday night at 7 PM with a combined performance of NOCCA and Loyola's best of the best.
